The Propsting Family settled in the Richmond district of North West Queensland after Amelia Mabel Propsting, wife of Henry Hadley Melville Propsting, drew the block in a ballot in 1919.   The fourth generation sons are now running the properties and are committed to seeing the land and enterprise remain sustainable for the next generation and generations to come.

 

We trade as No 27 Pastoral Company with cattle properties located across North West Queensland and pride ourselves on continuing the legacy of producing quality grass fed beef on natural pasture.

Our herd comprises a strong base of Brahman/Droughtmaster females, with a cross breeding program of Red Angus Composites bulls to ensure fertility, hybrid vigour and meat quality.  The versatility of our herd enables us to produce an animal suitable for all markets and for export to South East Asia, Japan and the United States of America.

 

Within our management practises, our cattle are handled from weaner level through to turn off, with emphasis on low stress stock handling principles. Our livestock remain at the forefront of our business, with all our cattle handled under best management practices, including the implementation of pain relief in necessary procedures and maintaining the highest level of animal husbandry standards.

 

Our livestock graze in a timed controlled rotational system, allowing our land and soil to regenerate while increasing herd performance.  The adaptation of regenerative agricultural practices into our business has increased efficiency and profitability, driving the performance of our cattle for us and our valued customers.
